49. Exemption by the Director-General

(1)The Director-General may grant exemption or special authorisation on any civil aviation matter upon an application by a holder of aviation document or any authorisation, as the case may be, on such terms and conditions as may be necessary, with respect to the application of any regulations made under this Act:Provided that any such exemptions granted shall not compromise aviation safety and security standards and shall be in the interest of the public.

(2)Without limiting the provisions of subsection (1), exemptions shall be issued in accordance with the procedure for applications and approvals prescribed in the regulations.[Act No. 42 of 2016, s. 20]
