3. Objects and purpose of the Act.
(1)The object and purpose of the Act is to—(a)provide for the establishment of the Scheme;(b)provide for the payment of retirement benefits to members of the Scheme when they become due;(c)provide for the social security of members of the Scheme by ensuring that the members save in order to cater for their livelihood during their retirement;(d)establish a uniform set of rules, regulations and standards for the administration and payment of retirement benefits for members of the Scheme;(e)establish transitional provisions for existing schemes; and(f)protect the benefits of the members of the Scheme.
