58. Chain-of-custody
(1)The Cabinet Secretary shall publish in the Gazette a chain-of-custody system for the verification of the origin of forest products from public, community and private forests and the compliance of license holders in accordance with this Act.(2)The Service shall upon request support the process of establishing and maintaining the chain of custody for a county government.(3)A person in possession of or trading in forest products shall comply with the requirements of the chain-of-custody system established under this section.(4)A person who contravenes the provisions of this section commits an offence and shall be liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand shillings or imprisonment of a term not exceeding one year or to both.
