9. Board of Directors of the Institute

9. Board of Directors of the Institute
(1)The Institute shall be managed by a Board of Directors which shall consist of—(a)a chairperson who shall be appointed by the President;(b)the Principal Secretary in the ministry responsible for matters relating to industrial research and development or the Principal Secretary’s representative;(c)the Principal Secretary in the ministry responsible for matters relating to finance or the Principal Secretary’s representative;(d)a representative of the National Commission for Science Technology and Innovation appointed by the Cabinet Secretary;(e)a representative of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute appointed by the Cabinet Secretary;(f)a representative of the office of the Attorney-General;(g)three members appointed by the Cabinet Secretary from each category of the following institutions—(ii)the Kenya Association of Manufacturers;(iii)the Consumer Federation of Kenya; and(h)the Director-General of the Institute.(2)The appointment of the chairperson under subsection (1)(a) and members under subsection (1)(g) shall be by name and by notice in the Gazette.(3)The members appointed under subsection (1)(g) shall consist of persons possessing skills and competencies that may be required for the achievement of the objects of the Institute.
