2. Interpretation
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—"animal" means any mammal or bird declared by the Cabinet Secretary, by notice in the Gazette, to be an animal to which this Act applies;"Controller" means the Food Safety Controller appointed under the Food and Feed Safety Control Co-ordination Act (No. 21 of 2026);"meat" means any portion of an animal which is intended for human consumption, whether fresh, chilled or frozen or otherwise processed by any means whatsoever or included in any article of food for human consumption;"multi-annual control plan" has the meaning assigned to it under section 2 of the Food and Feed Safety Control Co-ordination Act (No. 21 of 2026);"slaughterhouse" means any place kept for the purpose of the slaughter of animals for human consumption;"the Cabinet Secretary" means the Cabinet Secretary for the time being responsible for veterinary services;(Act No. 21 of 2026, 2nd Sch.)Source: Kenya Law
