5. Objective and purpose of the Fund

(1)The objective of the Fund is to achieve long-term fiscal sustainability and intergenerational wealth-sharing.

(2)The purpose of the Fund shall be to—

(a)provide the Government with a buffer from fluctuations in resource revenues or extraordinary shocks which may affect macro-economic stability;

(b)provide finance for strategic infrastructure investment priorities to foster strong and inclusive growth and development; and

(c)build a savings base for future generations when minerals and petroleum resources are exhausted.
