16. The Vice-Chancellor

(1)There shall be a Vice-Chancellor of the University who shall be appointed in accordance with the Act.

(2)The Vice-Chancellor shall be Chief Executive Officer of the University and shall—

(a)be the academic and administrative head of the University;

(b)have overall responsibility of the direction, organization, administration and programmes of the University; and

(c)have such responsibilities and duties as may be provided for in this Charter and the Statutes.

(3)The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for one a further term.
