19. Alumni Association
(1)The University Management may establish an Alumni Association as provided for in the Act, which shall consist of the graduates of the University and any other persons as may be provided by its constitution, beginning with the first graduation, and such other persons as may be declared to be members by the Council.(2)The objectives and the governance of the Alumni Association shall be guided by a constitution drawn up by the Alumni of the University.(3)The constitution of the Alumni Association shall be approved by the Council and shall not be inconsistent with this Charter.(4)The functions of the Alumni Association shall be—(a)to promote academic and professional excellence;(b)to encourage unity among the graduates of the University;(c)to engage in development projects of the University;(d)to promote the University’s welfare through sponsorship programmes; and(e)to promote co-operation between the University, community and industry.(5)The Alumni Association shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor.
