48. Maximum noise levels
(1)For helicopters specified in regulation 45(2) and 45(3), the maximum noise levels, when determined in accordance with the noise evaluation method under the Third Schedule, shall not exceed the following(a)for take-off: 109 EPNdB for helicopters with maximum certificated take-off mass, at which the noise certification is requested, of 80 000 kg and over and decreasing linearly with the logarithm of the helicopter mass at a rate of 3 EPNdB per halving of mass down to 89 EPNdB after which the limit is constant;(b)for overflight: 108 EPNdB for helicopters with maximum certificated take-off mass, at which the noise certification is requested, of 80 000 kg and over and decreasing linearly with the logarithm of the helicopter mass at a rate of3 EPNdB per halving of mass down to 88 EPNdB after which the limit is constant;(c)for approach: 110 EPNdB for helicopters with maximum certificated take-off mass, at which the noise certification is requested, of 80 000 kg and over and decreasing linearly with the logarithm of the helicopter mass at a rate of 3 EPNdB per halving of mass down to 90 EPNdB after which the limit is constant.(2)For helicopters specified refered to in regulation 45(4), the maximum noise levels, when determined in accordance with the noise evaluation method prescribed in the Third Schedule of these regulations., shall not exceed the following—(a)for take-off: 106 EPNdB for helicopters with maximum certificated take-off mass, at which the noise certification is requested, of 80 000 kg and over and decreasing linearly with the logarithm of the helicopter mass at a rate of 3 EPNdB per halving of mass down to 86 EPNdB after which the limit is constant;(b)for overflight: 104 EPNdB for helicopters with maximum certificated take-off mass, at which the noise certification is requested, of 80 000 kg and over and decreasing linearly with the logarithm of the helicopter mass at a rate of 3 EPNdB per halving of mass down to 84 EPNdB after which the limit is constant(c)for approach: 109 EPNdB for helicopters with maximum certificated take-off mass, at which the noise certification is requested, of 80 000 kg and over and decreasing linearly with the logarithm of the helicopter mass at a rate of 3 EPNdB per halving of mass down to 89 EPNdB after which the limit is constant
