20. The Vice-Chancellor

(1)There shall be a Vice-Chancellor of the University who shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Act.

(2)The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Chief Executive of the University, and as further provided for in the Charter, shall:—

(a)be the academic and administrative head of the University;

(b)have overall responsibility of the direction, organization, administration and programmes of the University; and

(c)have such powers and duties as may be provided for under the Charter and by the Statutes.

(3)The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a period of five (5) years and shall be eligible for reappointment for one further term.
